METHINKS
Thanks. And rethink?
by way of a general question: can a system of belief outlive the disintegration of its core ideas?
how and why??.
urge you to reflect, and post freely.. your thoughts are appreciated without bias..

SKD - I don't know think I have ever seen a new poster start so many threads so quickly without any introduction. Would you like to tell us a little about your self? Are you an ex-JW? Do you represent some other religious group? BK?
Labels peel off.

Has "human reorganization" survived system failures - corporate, religious, or a combination of the two?
i often wonder if the current crop of witnesses, especially the youth and younger ones simply don't care about facts?.
i mean for some, even with knowledge of the past scandals, misleading teachings, mistruths, etc etc, they simply don't care.
"it is the truth after all".. they are so intertwined in the operations and activities of the society, that they cant see anything outside of it.
Might I ask: Isn't the WT corporation/any religious denomination simply overstepping their place in subjecting ancient writings to analysis, and then imposing a certain understanding on others?
People get burdened unnecessarily by what, they themselves should be dignified to understand. Seems so!

The purpose of religion is always political. Its function is to pacify the masses.
That is an astute observation about organized religion.
Why should anything be believed if it has no factual evidence?
I believe calmness is good. It helps relationships...but cannot quantify my claims.
i don’t remember having any invisible friends when i was a really little boy, i don’t know if such a thing actually exists, i’ve only ever seen it in movies?
of course it might have looked to others like i was talking to someone on occasions, but i’m sure it would have just been me talking to myself.
the thing is though, i got introduced to an invisible friend in my pre-teens, and i kept the relationship going well into adulthood.
Outside of the New Covenant (the one we were denied access to) there is no friendship with God, real or imagined.
Hello Mr. Perry,
How did Abraham have friendship with God, before the Law or the sacrifice of Christ?
I ask in sincerity, and not impertinence.
Thank you.

scientific progress is seen in medical practice.
Pardon my posting again. I understand, it can appear rude.
The purpose of religion and its pursuit are fundamentally different. Religion (spiritual or otherwise) seeks constancy and permanence; resistance to change. Major shifts are rarely seen and with something extraordinary. For example, compare the OT and the NT of the Bible. Don't they appear absolutely incompatible, especially when the context is ignored/altered?

"Facts" by their very nature...must they be black-or-white?
sometimes theists challenge atheists about what evidence would be required before they would believe.
various unlikely scenarios are offered in reply.
i have taken the bait myself in the past.. i think the correct answer is much more ordinary.
I might if I understood it.
Your response obviously makes me smile in a good way; and smile at my own way of expressing matters too.
If there is a basic disagreement on the foundation of a matter, it is simply not possible to reconcile views by working out details. Details then tend to divide views and create further discord.
Theism and atheism are examples of such a difference in subjective conclusions. Endless detail will not alter a stance because there are too many variables to reach that basic conclusion.
Dear Cofty, does this sound easier? I hope so!

When a prayer is seemingly "answered" in a positive way, it is really just a case of confirmation bias.
May I ask: What about a prayer that continues to be answered before all over a long period of time? Time and numbers of people should cancel out a confirmation bias, I would suppose.
This I ask in general, and not of a specific poster as, EdenOne.
Thank you.
